Air & Dirt Separators
Taco builds their own Air & Dirt Separators in their Fall River, MA facility. With their highly advanced team, state of the art equipment, and the Taco name behind them, there's virtually no ASME vessel they can't build. If the below capacities aren't enough for your design, reach out to our team and we will work with you on a custom tank that will fit all of your needs.
AC Series
Models: AC, ACT, ACTG, ACG
This broad selection of air separators delivers all the quality and performance you expect from Taco. They're built to last--shell heads and flanges are ANSI & ASME constructed for 125 psi working pressure--and provide outstanding performance in the field, up to a maximum operating temperature of 375° F. Available in pipe sizes from 2" to 20" to meet the needs of a broad range of application. Features include a removable stainless steel strainer, and space efficient design. Optional higher working pressures are available.
Design Characteristics:
- GPM: 80 - 10,000
- Connection Sizes (in): 2 – 36
4900 Air Separator
Models: 4900A, 4900AD
Taco 4900 Series® Air Separators help you save money and prolong the life of system pumps, piping and components by removing air and dirt from the system to prevent problems such as reduced heat transfer, loss of efficiency, pipe corrossion, pump damage, noise and the waste and cost of increased energy consumption. Patented PALL ring technology clears the system of microbubbles as small as 18 x 10 -6 meters, sand, dirt and rust.
Design Characteristics:
- GPM: 0 - 33,457
- Connection Sizes (in): 2 – 36

MPT Series
Models: MPT
Taco’s "MPT" product line offering incorporates the features of Taco's Buffer Tank, 5900 and standard in-line Air Separator product lines within a single product. This product line offers tank sizes ranging between 50 and 1050 gallons. Each MPT model utilizes four nozzles, a full port blow down valve and Air Vent. Each of these tank models are available with (4) system connections— two on each side of the tank located in both high and low positions to meet a wide range of application requirements. Other options include 1/2" Armaflex insulation for chilled water applications, 1" Silicon/fiberglass jacketed insulation for heating applications and 3/4" NPT connections on each nozzle for temperature/pressure ports and another port located in the center of the tank for mixed sensing.
Design Characteristics:
- Capacity (gal): 50 - 1,050
- Flange Sizes (in.): 2 - 12
- Diameter (in.): 20 - 60
- Height (in.): 60 – 117
Air Scoop
Models: 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, 437
The special design and internal baffles of Taco Air Scoops® slow water velocity to separate the air from solution. Thanks to this design, Taco Air Scoops efficiently remove air to provide noiseless, air-free hydronic heating, cooling or combination systems. They also provide an economic way to integrate air elimination by the connection of either a plain steel or diaphragm expansion tank. Quality features include one-piece, cast iron construction, and engineered baffle to separate air from water, maximum operating pressure of 125 PSI (862 kPa) and maximum operating temperature of 300 °F (135 °C).
4900 Series Bronze Air Separators
Models: 49-075, 49-100, 49-125, 49-150, 49-200
The Taco 4900 Series® Air Separators are designed for the complete elimination of air from closed loop heating and cooling systems up to a maximum temperature of 240°F and a maximum pressure of 150 PSI. The principle on which the Taco 4900 Series Air Separator is based is a patented and proven method of removing gases from water: the PALL ring process. Connection Sizes 3/4 - 2"
