Niles Steel Tank maintains a large selection of standard Large volume hot water storage tanks in inventory which are available for quick ship. Inventory gallon sizes range from 210 gallon up to 1000 gallons. All tanks are vertical, glass lined with oxide primer. Refer to our submittal pages for details on tank fitting configuration. Manways are required on all tanks OVER 36” diameter and our pricing reflects that requirement. Manways are optional on 36” diameter and below. All bare vertical tanks come standard with lifting lugs. Each tank is hydro-tested and independently inspected as ASME requlations require. Need more than what is available in our standard sizes? We can build to your specifications. Fitting changes, flanges, linings and exterior finishes, high pressures are all available but current lead times will apply. Please visit our Get A Quote page and tell us what you’re looking for. When ordering or requesting a quotation, please let us know the number of fittings or nozzles, operating pressure and temperature. If needed, legs can be substituted for skirts. Please refer to our options page for information on our Powered Anode system and other items.
175 - 1689 Gallons
Our jacketed and insulated tanks come standard with 2″ of spray foam insulation which meets ASHRAE 90.1b (2010 version) requirements. Manways are standard on all tanks over 36″ diameter and are optional on 36″ diameter and below. Optional opening/ panels can be ordered to gain access to the existing lifting lugs. And, every tank is mounted on 2″ fork-lift rails for easy lifting.
Niles Steel Tanks sprayed-on rigid insulation with acrylic topcoat exceeds ASHREE 90.1b requirements with 2.25” of high density polyurethane foam with an R value or R-16. The spray-on foam meets California Title 24 requirements. Niles spray-on foam insulation is a class 1 foam with less than a 25‑ASTM spread rating suitable for boiler room applications. The 100% acrylic topcoat is formulated for outdoor applications and is designed to withstand extreme weather and a full range of environmental conditions. The 2 component polyurethane foam is applied at ambient temperatures, directly to the vessel and rises to the desired thickness. The acrylic topcoat is applied from a high pressure gun once the foam has set. The acrylic topcoat is UV reflective which protects the spray-on foam from deterioration from the sun.
Tank construction shall be 150 psi maximum allowable working pressure and be ASME stamped and National Board listed. All tanks are to be lined with Ultonium superior glass lining, red at 1600 F (871 C) by a process which provides a molecular interchange of glass and steel. Electric Power Water Heater Series shall include the following standard features: magnetic contactors with immersion thermostats, digital Temperature display, internal fusing for control and load circuits, low-watt density Incoloy sheath elements, magnesium anode rods, ASME rated temperature and pressure relief valve, terminal block wiring, 180 F (82 C) water temperature approval, 3-year limited warranty.
Niles Steel Tank Hot Water Generators are equipped with 2 or 4 pass, single or double wall construction, U-bend heat exchangers. It can be operated by passing either steam or hot water through the coil to heat the tank contents. Large heating capacity in small spaces makes this heater particularly suitable for boiler rooms with low head room. Hot Water Generators come in vertical and horizontal configurations, bare, topcoated or jacketed and insulated. Select from our standard design or customize as needed. All tank fittings can be NPT, flanged or grooved end. Most generators are porcelain enamel (glass) or epoxy lined for potable water applications up to 180°F & 160 PSI max. For higher temperatures or special applications NST offers 316L stainless steel tank construction. These systems are designed primarily for natural convection in the tank. Heat exchangers are built with your choice of copper, stainless or copper nickel tubes. All tubesheets are 304 stainless steel unless requested otherwise.
The Niles Power Plate water heating system is a performance driven water heating package that comes with your choice of water storage tanks up to 2,500 gallons. The unique Power Plate heat exchanger design provides high rates of heat transfer requiring less surface area than conventional shell and tube heat exchangers. Couple that performance with our Ultonium lined or stainless steel alloy storage tanks for the ultimate heating domestic water delivery package.
Chilled water buffer tanks are essential components in modern day chiller systems. NST buffer tanks are designed to increase the system’s capacity so water temperatures stabilize within the chiller manufacturers recommendations. When the cooling systems piping capacity is under sized, compressors will short cycle and temperature control is harder to maintain within the building. Chiller manufacturers recommend between 3 to 10 gallons per ton of nominal cooling capacity, in the piping system. Depending on the level of accuracy of temperature control, higher volumes may be required.
The Niles Steel Tank Hydraulic Separator is designed to help reduce short cycling of a boiler system and separate building and boiler circulation. The NST Hydraulic Separator uses stored boiler water to buffer the system load when the boiler is producing more BTU’s than what the building can handle. When the building has a minimal demand, it pulls from the tank allowing the boiler to “rest”. The Hydraulic Separator is piped so the building flow is separate from the boiler flow, allowing independent circulation.
Thermal Expansion tanks are used to help eliminate the expansion forces caused by heating and cooling of pressurized systems water. The tank air pressure must be field adjusted for proper system operation. It is important to properly charge the tank with enough pressure which equals the cold water supply pressure, prior to filling the system. Failure to properly pressurize the tank will cause the cold supply water to expand the bladder, greatly reduce the expansion capabilities. The heavy duty butyl rubber bladder keeps the system water separate from the tank, eliminating tank corrosion. The Niles Steel Tank Expansion tanks are designed for commercial heating applications and potable water applications. As the water is heated, it expands into the bladder and pushes against the air cushion. As the system cools, the pressure in the tank pushes the system water back into the piping, maintaining system pressure.
There really isn’t too much we haven’t built. Although we list just a few items, we will build pretty much anything you need, providing it’s within our lifting and welding capabilities. Our shop is set-up to produce multiple tanks of the same design as well as one of a kind vessels. Just because you don’t see it listed, doesn’t mean we won’t build it. We service almost every industry except breathable air tanks. If you have an existing tank design that you need us to quote, or you need a replacement tank to match existing piping, we’ll be glad to help. Our engineering team can help with any aspect of your project. We have experience with chillers, accumulators, steam generation, pump traps, piping, water filtration, surge tanks and many other industries and systems. High pressure and unique designs are where we excel. If your project requires an interior lining, we have the expertise to help determine which lining would best suit your applications need. We offer, glass and epoxy linings done at our facility.
Niles Steel Tank offers a full line of both commercial and residential solar tanks. Approved in many systems with OG300 certification, the Niles solar tanks are already to go. We offer solar tanks with back-up systems for electric (2 elements), boiler (hot water) or under-fired gas models to choose from. We also have a full line of solar tanks with no internal coil but have 2) electric heating elements as back up.
Our larger commercial custom built solar tanks have multiple internal coils designed specifically for slow gpm which is ideal for solar pump rates. These large solar tanks are custom built precisely for your project and can be ordered with our R-16 spray-on foam insulation. By introducing multiple coils into the tank, you can add more array’s on the roof to maximize each coils heating potential. Perfect for applications where faster recovery times are needed.
