Start-up Technician

Overview

Diversified Fluid Controls is seeking a mechanically skilled and customer-focused Field Service & Start-Up Technician to support our start-up and warranty team. This role combines equipment start-up, warranty service, and preventative maintenance with a strong emphasis on technical quality, professionalism, and contractor support. We do not compete against our customers - it's our job to support them!

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field start-ups of commercial HVAC pumps, booster systems, VFDs and more.

  • Conduct warranty diagnostics and generate field service reports

  • Execute precision laser alignment and verify equipment rotation

  • Perform preventative maintenance including system inspections, coupling checks, seal assessments, and VFD parameter reviews

  • Install and operate portable ultrasonic flow meters for on-site flow verification

  • Replace mechanical seals and bearings as needed on-site

  • Interface with contractors, engineers, and facility teams to ensure equipment is installed and performing per manufacturer standards

  • Complete required documentation for start-up forms, PM reports, warranty claims, and service tickets

  • Support sales team with field intelligence and customer communication

  • Travel to job sites across South Florida

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical or field service experience (HVAC, pump, or VFD experience strongly preferred)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiarity with centrifugal pumps, booster systems, and variable frequency drives

  • Experience with mechanical seal installation and laser alignment tools a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Professionalism in client-facing situations

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
